EuroShop 2017: The week in review

This was the first time Aurora attended EuroShop as Aurora and therefore it was an important event for us to demonstrate where we are heading and the benefits retailers can gain from our latest products and services.

New Smart Lighting Platform

At the event we exclusively previewed AXiO, Aurora’s new smart platform. Perhaps a little less obvious were the luminaires on our stand, fitted with Gooee sensors collecting data that enabled us to provide real time heat maps of visitor footfall, points of interest, energy consumption data and more through Gooee’s full stack ecosystem.

The Reaction to AXiO

This live demonstration formed the basis of our exclusive preview of the newly developed smart lighting platform AXiO, which was well received by both clients and visitors. A common theme among those that visited the stand was a need for new technology to increase human engagement along with a curiousness about the IoT and integrated lighting solutions.

A survey carried out by team members showed that visitors to our stand came from as far as Kuwait and Peru, spanning a huge range of industries from Fashion to Finance, Projects to Plastics – showing that the appetite for connected lighting solutions is multi-disciplined.

What We've Been Up To

Aside from AXiO, we also displayed our new Beta website on the screens around the stand and our rebrand is complete. Microlights is officially Aurora and we’re continuing our journey to a smart future. We also had Gooee Virtual Reality headsets on the Aurora stand, giving retailers a taste of what Gooee technology can really do.

On top of that, we hosted a stand party on the second day which started early and finished late, with a magician in residence who entertained all-comers to the party with some amazing card tricks and illusions - a metaphor for the way data can seemingly be pulled from thin air.

The Data Disappearing Act

Data is one of the most valuable assets a business can obtain but arguably one of the most difficult to see - especially when trying to identify patterns and trends. We used LED strip lights to reflect the data going up to the cloud on the outside of the stand and a large TV screen at the back with a real time dashboard visualising data in real time.

But when value is extracted from this data using a specially developed platform like AXiO,  it allows businesses to understand their customers like never before. This was our core message at EuroShop, it’s Value Beyond Illumination.
